Why Some People Stop Believing In Jesus

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Many of us know someone who claims that they once believed in Jesus, but now no longer follow Him. This is not a new phenomenon, it has been happening since Jesus arrived on earth 2,000 years ago.

What someone says is not always met by their actions. The test of any confession is what we do in the long term. Jesus was very clear that only those who endure till the end will be saved (Matthew 10:22). John later stated that because certain individuals had departed Jesus’ church that this was proof that they never were a part of it. Continue reading “Why Some People Stop Believing In Jesus”

Why We Need A Savior

COPYRIGHT WARNING

There is something resident within us that wants perfection. We see it in our mind as we observe things around us that are not perfect. We feel uncomfortable when entering a hotel room that is old, dirty, and unkempt. We feel displeasure when lied to. There is a righteous anger that mounts upon our heart when we see or hear about a child or elderly person that has been abused.

Perfection is an ideal that we all want, yet accept that we can never apprehend. Why is it that we earnestly desire perfection and feel disappointed, angry, or perplexed when every human being we meet is incapable of this perfection?

Born Once; Die Twice. Born Twice; Die Once

Copyright Warning

There is a curious paradox that is presented in the pages of the Bible that a great majority of people have not understood. Jesus described a physical birth that every person will experience; and a second spiritual birth that is necessary in order to obtain eternal life. Jesus said that because of our sin and sin nature, we are all already under the condemnation of God and dead in our sins.[1] Once we understand who Jesus is and the reason that He came into the world, we have the opportunity to be born again a second time. At that moment, our spirit within that was formerly dead, comes alive. Continue reading “Born Once; Die Twice. Born Twice; Die Once”

Baptism For The Dead

Copyright Warning

Is it possible to baptize a person who has died and thereby impart salvation to them? There are many people today who believe that this is possible. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints holds this doctrine as one of their principle teachings. This principle states that a person may be baptized on behalf of one who has died, thereby granting them the opportunity for salvation and eternal life. The person who has died may either accept or reject this offer of salvation. Continue reading “Baptism For The Dead”

Do Good People Go To Heaven?

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Only Perfect People smallThe title of “goodness,” as it is assigned to certain persons, is an incomplete and often incorrectly designated statement.

Many of us know a person who is good. Our mother, father, or other family member may be endeared to us by the love they have shown over many years. We often use the idea of good when we think about the many times during our life when we do the right thing and show generosity, forgiveness, love, or help another person in need.

People who display these kinds of behaviors often are frequently referred to as “good people.”

The origin and true definition of “good” may come as a surprise to many people. When we examine the etymology of the word “good,” we find that it first came into use because of the goodness of God. Psalm 100:5 describes the Messiah as one who will retain the characteristic of goodness as a mark of His work and ministry. We find out later that the only one who is truly good—all of the time—is God. If the Messiah is good, then He must also be God. Continue reading “Do Good People Go To Heaven?”

One God, One Way

COPYRIGHT WARNING

IMG_2408God has expressed His eternal love to each one of us. He sent His Son to die for our sins and He has brought Him to the earth so that we might see what God is truly like. He also made it abundantly clear that He has chosen only one way that He might be able to save us. It is a plan that He formulated before time existed. He chose to save the descendants of Adam, by a work of salvation that He alone would accomplish. He did this so that none of us could ever boast, or take credit for what God has done.

Salvation is a free gift that God has offered to every person who will simply believe what He has said. If we think that we can make a way of our own that will bring us to God, we are wrong. There is only one, perfect, and complete plan of salvation in which all people of the earth can find and know the One True and Living God.

Isaiah writes that the Messiah will be the only Savior available to all mankind.

Isaiah 43:11 “I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.”

New Testament Fulfillment:

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Acts 4:10-12 “let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.

How can a person know for certain, the correct path to God? There are hundreds of religions, churches, and public speakers who claim to be the only bridge between God and man. Continue reading “One God, One Way”

For Just One Sin…

COPYRIGHT WARNING

For just one sin–Jesus had to die. It was not the entire culmination of all human sin and suffering which compelled Jesus to leave heaven and die for us. It was the suffering of one person, one sin–which drove Jesus to become a sacrifice that would remove the judgement of God.

Isaiah 53:8d …For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

1 John 2:1-2 …Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation (payment) for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

The plan of God has always been to remove the sins of the whole world. Known to God before the foundation of the world was the fall of Adam, which would result in the need for a Savior. In His wisdom, God planned for this contingency by the provision of His Son to redeem all creation back to His glorious ideal and perfection.

God will make this redemption possible by acts that originate and culminate with Himself. The burden for salvation resting upon God and His actions to save us, while the appropriation of salvation is contingent upon the decision of each individual person to hear and respond by faith.

What Part Did Mary Play in the Redemption of Man?

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Mary’s sorrow

No mother should have to watch her son die. Crucifixion was the most brutal of executions—described as agony and horror, the mother of Jesus undoubtably found it unbearable to behold.

It is for certain that Mary was well acquainted with the emotions of her Son. She knew when He was happy and she could tell, even from a distance, when He was suffering. Jesus’ mother had been with Him on many occasions when He had fallen and scraped is knees. She had mended His cuts and held Him in her arms when He was in pain. When Jesus was giving His life for all of us, Mary stood at the foot of His cross, and it is certain that she suffered personal torment as she watched her son die such a horrible death. Why the World Hates Jesus and Those Who Follow Him

COPYRIGHT WARNING

Mark 13:13 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.

John 15:18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.”

The great cosmic conspiracy that is not often spoken of publicly is the hatred that this world has for Jesus Christ. A person can mention the name of most any person of history, and a friendly discussion may begin. Let someone mention the name of Jesus Christ; and immediately, the conversation will turn silent, and all eyes and ears will be upon the one who mentioned His name.
