Those Who Deny God, Cannot Understand Him
A human being is made up of three components; body, soul, and Spirit. When a person is born, the body is preeminent, it rules the life of the person. Whatever the body wants, it expresses through the desires of the flesh. The soul is the inhabitation of the emotions, where a person expresses their thoughts, feelings and emotions. The spirit, which is the only part of man that can know and understand God, is dead because of sin.
When Jesus told Nicodemus, in John chapter 3, that “you must be “born again,” He was describing the spirit. In order for any person to understand God, or to comprehend His word, first his spirit must be born again, into a new relationship with God. Until our sins are dealt with and removed by God, it is impossible for us to have a relationship with God.
Jesus death on the cross, paid for the sins of all people, for all time. All those who are willing to repent from their sins and come to Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins, are born again—into this new spiritual life.
This is one of the preeminent differences between Biblical Christianity and religion. The religions of man ignore the spiritual side of man, regarding sin, repentance and the need to experience a new life in the spirit. Man’s religion requires conformance into a set of rules or conduct. The Bible reveals that there are no rules that any person can keep that will make them acceptable to God. It is by a reliance upon what Jesus has accomplish that God will accept any person.
To those who do not know God, who have yet to experience this new birth of the spirit, these things are difficult to comprehend. Some even scoff at this possibility and find it impossible to believe. Nevertheless, this is what the text of the New Testament reveals. Continue reading “The Atheist's Inability To Comprehend God”
The world is fast approaching a time specified by the Bible in which the heavens and the earth will be destroyed by a fervent heat. Scientists today describe a similar event of great distance from the present, when the universe will fully expend all of its energy and collapse upon itself in a massive heat death in about 10100 years.[A]
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. –2 Peter 3: 10
The Bible specifies when this creation of a new heavens and earth will take place–as near the end of the one-thousand year Millennial reign of the Messiah.
Old Testament Reference: Isaiah 65:17 For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.
New Testament Fulfillment: Revelation 21:1 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.
The Lord will destroy all that presently exists and begin again with an entirely new universe. The beings that will dwell in this new creation, will be those who have received the Messiah’s pardon for their sins and are now dwelling in perfect and eternal bodies. We will never grow old, become sick, or die again. The presence of evil and sin will also cease to exist and every person will love the Lord and live in conformity with His perfect will.
We often think of eternity as an existence that comprises endless time. In fact, eternity is not measured by time at all. There are no days or nights. There are no events that take place, one after another. In eternity, everything has already taken place and all that is–exists–in the present tense, forever. In eternity, all the events of linear time have already taken place. Every person who loves God, is living together with Him in heaven. All those who have rejected the love of God are gathered together in their eternal place. All events described by the Bible have already taken place. It is only here on earth that we must continue to experience the balance of time which the Lord has determined for all mankind.
Peter describes the timelessness of eternity—from God’s perspective: Continue reading “The End of the Universe: Time and Eternity”
There are physical eyes by which we can perceive the world and there are spiritual eyes whereby we may see into the realm of God’s Spirit. Many people worship the mountains, the seas, the skies and the trees, but not the God who made these things. Isaiah’s prophecy reveals that the Messiah will come into the world for the purpose of allowing men to see what God is truly like. He will walk amongst us, talk with us, and perform such amazing miracles that there will be no doubt that He is the one true Savior who has come into the world.
Jesus came into the world to give spiritual sight to those who cannot see God. Today there are many who are well educated and intelligent—while possessing little or no knowledge of God.
In many instances, it is human education that acts as a barrier to faith. A majority of secular colleges and universities have long since determined that God is a myth and they have set about to teach and indoctrinate their students into this secular world view. Many Christian young men and women who were not sufficiently grounded in their faith before they departed for these secular institutions, quickly lose their faith in favor of a humanistic view of the world, as taught by their professors. Scientists understand today that the original assumption that there must be many millions of other planets in the universe, like earth, perfectly suited for life, is now highly implausible. When all the requirements necessary for life are considered, there is very little chance that we will ever find intelligent life on any other planet. Why did the Lord make such a vast and expansive universe, if only to inhabit one tiny planet with Life? The obvious answer is that He was not concerned with making good use of the vastness of the Cosmos, He wanted to display His creative power, much in the same way that a great artist might fill up a canvas with a demonstration of his creative ability.
Psalm 19:1 The a heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. 2 Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. 3 They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. 4 Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
